Inspite of a declining trend during the current monitoring period, the strong ElNiño still persists. CropWatch monitored the following typical climateanomalies associated with El Niño events: positive temperature anomalies inNortheast China and southAsia, the negativeprecipitation anomalies in NorthAustralia and maritime south-east Asia, drought in central and northern southAmerica, positive precipitation anomalies in Argentina and Peru, and especiallydrought in southern Africa.
